About the organist: Roland Voit

Roland Voit is an organist, teacher and composer from Hagen in Germany. He studied organ at the Cologne University School of Music (under Professors Viktor Lukas, Helmut Weinrebe and Peter Degenhardt) and has since made frequent international tours as a recitalist, in between teaching at the Max-Reger Music School in Hagen and the Episcopal School for Church Music in Essen.

As a composer Roland has written many pieces for organ, choir, piano and harp. He has also dedicated many years of volunteer work in the area of special needs instrumental music education, having written several books on the topic and creating a piano series used in teaching piano to special needs children. He organises regular concerts under the auspices of the project 'Miteinander Musizieren' ('Making music together') where special needs children perform with their able-bodied peers.

Roland has recorded many CDs and DVDs, such as 'French organ Music between 1870 and 1970' and 'French organ Music from four centuries – 50 years jubilee cooperation France – Germany'. His latest DVD is a fascinating combination of modern paintings, collages and photos of modern church windows combined with modern organ compositions, such as for example 'Between Twelve Pillars' – the opus of Dr. Heinz-Josef Florian is combined with the three-dimensional collage (2016) by Dorothee Kaltenpoth. A full list of recordings can be viewed on Roland's website.
